WHY HEAT WITH WOOD?

Wood heating, also known as biomass energy , is the leading source of renewable energy in France.

The French Environment and Energy Management Agency, ADEME, presents the advantages of using wood heating with the TOTEM FIRE fireplace and insert:

• It is an abundant and local resource: the rate of wood harvesting currently represents only about half of the natural growth of the forest in France;
• It emits little CO2 compared to fossil fuels;
• It is competitive: for private individuals, the price of logs is on average half that of natural gas and almost three times cheaper than fuel oil;
• It creates jobs: 85,000 potential jobs in 2015, a significant proportion of them in supply, i.e. local jobs that cannot be relocated;
• It involves local players, and thus creates a local dynamic.
